Description
This figure has a roughly chiselled surface and a burnt visual appearance. The jagged edges and stark juxtaposition between the burnt exterior and pale underneath serves to make this a dramatic work.
Hideo Sawada’s beautifully hand carved figures are a matchless example of a modern application of traditional techniques, balancing the abstract with gentle suggestions of emotion and human form.
