Description

An understated, elegant vessel with a gentle tapered form. This finely handcrafted thrown vessel exhibits a hazy pale green exterior glaze which is subtly patterned with earthly toned flecks and intricate dotted markings. While the lower half is gently covered with sponged glaze, the top half remains bare and pure, finished in a chalky cool white glaze. Its interior of darker, charcoal grey glaze draws the eye into its depths.

Inspired by the passage of time and connections to the past, Kate Schuricht’s boxes, jugs and vessels capture a timeless quality. Solitary forms possess stillness, while intimate groupings embody an air of contemplation. Conceived as small scale installations, her elegant, architectural forms provoke a simple yet striking backdrop for a range of raku crackles and subtle stoneware hues. The addition of natural materials such as wood, stone and precious metal gilding creates harmony within her ceramics.
