Simple yet characterful jug crafted by Fumihiro Toda in saitou technique. Pieces are dipped in a metallic glaze containing iron and manganese, wiped off moderately, and then covered with a non-glossy white glaze. The unevenness of the metallic glaze comes out through the white glaze, resulting in the striking antique look.
This pitcher, restrained in both form and palette, is a timeless and wonderful addition to the home, with a wide variety of possible uses.

Japanese maker Fumihiro Toda was born in Nagano. After graduating from Tokyo Metropolitan University, Fumihiro worked for a Telecommunications company for several years.
In 1998 Toda graduated from Gifu Prefectural Tajimi Technical High School, majoring in Ceramic Science and Art. He started to produce ceramics from a studio that he rented in Ohata-cho, Tajimi City, and now, after 12 years of honing his craft, Toda is celebrated within the ceramic community. His works are rustic, restrained and wonderfully light, and have been featured in many exhibitions and has been the recipient of numerous awards. Toda is now based in Tokorozawa City, where he fires his work in a self-made kiln.
