Description
This long, elongated seated figure is both haunting and transfixing – while the stretched out figure may have an eerie quality, the simplicity and smoothness of the wood is a stunning testament to the artist’s mastery.
Hideo Sawada’s beautifully hand carved figures are a matchless example of a modern application of traditional techniques, balancing the abstract with gentle suggestions of emotion and human form.
