Balance is both a physical act and an aesthetic pursuit. Our forthcoming exhibition 'In Balance' brings together the work of Ann Van Hoey, Emelie Abrahamsson, Koichi Onozawa, Barbara Gittings and Jayne Armstrong, working across ceramics and wood.

The exhibition explores the tension and precision required to create free flowing, easy yet dramatic forms. Some works appear to defy gravity, poised on a single point, while others find harmony through proportion, surface and subtle shifts in tone. A number invite interaction, rocking or playfully wobbling, their movement only achievable through intense precision.

Across practices, sculptural forms express a playful interplay between the free and the precise. Balance becomes more than a technical feat. It becomes expression, revealing the sensitivity, discipline and vision of the maker.
