Masako Nakagami vessel 13

£360.00

Handmade in Kyoto, Japan

Dimensions: W 18cm x H 16cm

Materials: Locally sourced clay

Method: hand thrown and carved

Description:

Punctuated by a small single opening this eloquent vessel is finished in a soft stone-white hue with subtle markings and inclusions. Its pebble-like form is hand-thrown, carved, and shaped using a specific clay excavated from Nakagami’s surrounding studio. Its form and aesthetics are reminiscent of the idyllic Kyoto Mountain habitat in which it was made. This precious object will work well individually or in small groups.

 About the Artist:

Masako Nakagami is an artist working in ceramics. Following four years living and working in the UK, and a period of travels through Spain, Nakagami is currently based in Kyoto. Largely crafted from clay dug from the mountains around her studio and inspired by the world around her and the movements within it, natural forms are explored heavily in the recurring flowing lines of Nakagami’s ceramics.
