Bobbye Fermie
Bobbye Fermie is an artist from Amsterdam currently living and working in Cornwall. Her dreamlike watercolours portray a sense of intimate stillness and softness that, through her choice of subject, colour and painting size, she relates to her own characteristics as a female introvert.
Bobbye takes inspiration from her immediate surroundings, from scenes and settings that she comes across through people’s windows, in the park or on the street. Her paintings recreate and reimagine these observed moments to explore the intimacy of the everyday and the domestic sphere. Often depicting urban environments, Bobbye exposes quiet moments with a sense of understanding, in which her imagined characters unwittingly take centre stage.
Bobbye completed the post-graduate ‘Drawing Year’ at the Royal Drawing School in 2015, after finishing her BA in Site Specific Art at the Royal Academy of Fine Art Antwerp in 2012. Her work has been exhibited throughout the UK and is currently held at several collections, including the Morritz-Heyman Collection, The Royal Collection and Soho House.
