MARINA SPYROPOULOS

Marina Spyropoulos has been designing and making gold, silver and gem-set jewellery for over 30 years. She studied Fine Art at the Byam Shaw School of Art in London, where her focus was drawn to metalwork, welding and forging. She trained as a silversmith in Taxco, the centre of silversmithing in Mexico. .

Marina hand-makes unique jewellery pieces that are inspired by her childhood in Greece; the gold and precious icons in the churches of Naxos and displays of ancient gold jewellery on museum visits to Athens.

In her Notting Hill workshop, she handcrafts in 18 karat gold and makes jewellery intended to be worn every-day. She also makes her own chains, a long process that results in their delicate and organic yet enduringly strong nature, perfect for suspending a collection of treasures, beautiful stones and charms on. The warmth and healing properties of the gold and stones that she uses are intended to become part of an individual's story.
