SARAH JERATH
Sarah was born in 1968 in Wigan, England. Age 5 Sarah moved to a house on a sandstone quarry hill in Lancashire. With views of Snowdonia, the Lake District, the Irish Sea, the woods and fields surrounding her, a love for the landscapes and natural habitats captivated her imagination.
Sarah’s work arises from the curiosity of natural materials found along the streams and banks up on the hill. As her ceramic works develops into an art form, more conscious expressions of clay arise, a song and a rhythm echoing the elemental. The process and making are as significant as the finished vessel. Her organic forms have an influence of ancient primitive pottery.
Alongside her art she has been making tableware collections for Michelin chefs since 2012. Sarah uses some of the natural materials like tree ash and minerals to create a body of work that has a simple organic aesthetic.
