Description
This animal form is resonant in its ambiguity – combining the body of a horse, the head of a bear, and the snout of a shrew. While lacking in legs or facial characteristics, this creature still manages to endear and captivate the viewer.
Hideo Sawada’s beautifully hand carved figures are a matchless example of a modern application of traditional techniques, balancing the abstract with gentle suggestions of emotion and human form.
