Akari Karugane 'Stone Table' (33)

£775.00

Dimensions: H 9cm x D 39cm

Materials: Porcelain

Method: Hand-building, wheel-throwing and mold techniques

Description:

This porcelain 'stone table' features a round, flattened form with gently curved edges and an organic profile reminiscent of weathered stone. Earthy textures and soft blue tones move across the surface, adding depth and character. Slightly elevated on its own integrated stands of the same texture, it serves as a refined platform for Akari’s teaware or stands beautifully on its own as a sculptural object.

About the Artist

Akari Karugane is a ceramic artist based in Tajimi City, a region renowned for its Mino ware tradition. A graduate of Musashino Art University and the Tajimi City Ceramics Design Institute, Karugane creates expressive forms that convey the warmth and strength of clay. Her work draws from natural textures and ancient objects, embracing the organic shifts that occur during the firing process. With a nuanced approach that merges hand-building, wheel-throwing, and mold-making, her vessels and sculptural pieces embody a timeless aesthetic shaped by imperfection and transformation.
