Description
A set of 10 objects, this unique sculptural piece has a distinctive crackled pattern, which the artist creates by layering two types of clay. The work also incorporates a clever element of movement; the top section has a limited capacity to be twisted, creating the potential for dynamic new silhouettes.
About the Artist
Born in 1995 in Higashiomi City, Shiga, Gaku Nakane graduated from Kyoto Municipal Doha Arts and Crafts High School in 2014, and Kyoto Prefectural Ceramics Technical College in 2016. Nakane then undertook a five year apprenticeship studying under Masahiko Ichino, one of the country’s leading modern ceramicists. His relatively short artistic career has already seen him amass a number of arts and ceramics awards. Maud & Mabel are honoured to present a significant collection of this emerging Japanese artist’s works in London in 2023.
