Description
An organic cup form carved from sustainably sourced maple, with natural cracks and knots revealing the character of the wood. A dry finish of layered iron oxide and earth pigments gives an irregular dark undertone, accented with a deep red-pink. The organic silhouette, and soft, deep tone draw attention to subtle cracks, gaps and knots, fully embracing the thoughtfully selected material.
About the Artist
Glenn Dane works in Cambridgeshire, creating vessels and sculptural forms from locally and sustainably sourced wood. Using freshly cut green timber, he allows natural movement and distortion to shape each piece, preserving knots, fissures and grain as traces of growth. Cracks are stitched as acts of care, and surfaces are finished with hand-made dyes and pigments from foraged plants, seeds and earth. The works exist as abstract, three-dimensional landscapes that reimagine the countryside through form and colour.
