Description
This vessel is made from locally sourced larch, shaped with soft, vertically carved facets and a rounded top with a rimmed opening. A finish of iron solution and grapevine charcoal ink creates subtle monochrome tones that move across the wood grain. Deep blues and blacks coat the form in a combination of dry matt and soft, silvery surfaces, drawing the eye closer to the intricate natural details of the material.
About the Artist
Glenn Dane works in Cambridgeshire, creating vessels and sculptural forms from locally and sustainably sourced wood. Using freshly cut green timber, he allows natural movement and distortion to shape each piece, preserving knots, fissures and grain as traces of growth. Cracks are stitched as acts of care, and surfaces are finished with hand-made dyes and pigments from foraged plants, seeds and earth. The works exist as abstract, three-dimensional landscapes that reimagine the countryside through form and colour.
