Description

The balance of organic forms and delicate touches of earth tones is a reoccurring motif, that creates a distinct style in Steve’s artwork. His forms are often simple and refined, but he embraces imperfections that highlight the handmade process, whether it's the subtle marks left by trimming tools or small pieces of clay pushed back into the surface that interact with the glaze.

About the Artist

Working in a studio based in rural Herefordshire and being a keen gardener, Steve draws inspiration from his natural surroundings and a life of simplicity. Working in a refined yet experimental style, the artist uses simple forms as a canvas to make his works from high-iron stoneware. By carefully hand-painting glaze, Steve imbues his ceramics with personality and brings each piece to life. For him, ceramics is all about not overworking or overthinking and knowing when to stop.
