After a seven-year hiatus, renowned ceramic artist Stuart Carey returns with Return to Form, a new collection that marks a significant phase in his artistic journey. Carey’s evolution from early studies in Newcastle to prestigious art institutions has led to his signature style: elegant, award-winning tableware adored by clients like Conran, John Lewis, and Goop. Recently, he shifted focus to education, co-founding The Kiln Rooms, London’s pioneering open-access ceramics studio, which has inspired over 20 similar studios across the UK and earned Carey recognition at 10 Downing Street.
Return to Form reflects Carey’s dedication to the tactile beauty of ceramics, with white stoneware and porcelain vessels that evoke human form and connection. Inspired by potter Gwyn Hanssen-Pigott’s "rightness of form," he arranges pieces in “families” that symbolise unity and personal resonance, celebrating ceramics as vessels of memory and feeling, and inviting viewers to connect deeply with each form.
