Description

Celia Dowson’s 'Water Bowl in Apricot Mist' is a tribute to the purity and simplicity of water itself. It exudes an ethereal aura reminiscent of water in its purest form. The smooth, fluid shape and form of the glass evokes the gentle ebb and flow of water. Crafted with meticulous precision, they hold the essence of liquid elegance, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the tranquillity of water.

Sublime glass droplets are suspended within the body. As light caresses its orange-hued surface, the bowl radiates an inner luminance, akin to the way water shimmers under the kiss of the sun. The small, flat surface which holds the widening body and mouth of each bowl is a delicate touch that not only elevates their aesthetic but also mirrors the interplay of water with its surroundings.

This exquisite glass bowl is a testament to Dowson’s mastery in capturing the essence of water. It is a liquid dream, allowing us to savour the beauty of water’s ever-changing form, from the vast ocean to small drops, all held within the tactile embrace of glass.

About the Artist

Celia Dowson is an artist whose ceramics and cast glass objects go far beyond their functional use. Celia graduated with a BA in Ceramic Design from Central Saint Martins in 2014, before receiving her MA in Ceramics and Glass from the Royal College of Art in 2018.

Celia works with the different properties of glass and porcelain to evoke the movement of nature in different ways. Her porcelain vessels represent evolving landscapes, mountainscapes and seascapes through marks and gestures. Her glass pieces vary in thickness, causing subtle gradations in colour. This reflects the colours, changing light and mystery of the natural world.
