Description
This cup is made from sustainably sourced maple, with angular hand-carved facets that give the form a subtle twisting shape. Walnut and oak gall botanical dyes have been applied in layers, creating a three-tone effect across the surface. Beautifully balanced, the dry irregular form and soft tonal changes embrace the natural textures and pattern of the wood.
About the Artist
Glenn Dane works in Cambridgeshire, creating vessels and sculptural forms from locally and sustainably sourced wood. Using freshly cut green timber, he allows natural movement and distortion to shape each piece, preserving knots, fissures and grain as traces of growth. Cracks are stitched as acts of care, and surfaces are finished with hand-made dyes and pigments from foraged plants, seeds and earth. The works exist as abstract, three-dimensional landscapes that reimagine the countryside through form and colour.
