Description

Ichikawa’s collection of wooden vessels and vases showcases an extraordinarily wide range of species, often highlighting spalted or richly figured timber that guides each form. While mainly consisting of a perfectly smooth, polished finish, natural features such as grain, colour variation, and texture, are preserved and balanced with precise craftsmanship, giving each work a distinct presence while celebrating the character of the wood.


About the Artist 

Born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, Takehito Ichikawa is a woodwork artist based in Nagoya. Beginning in furniture making and Buddhist altar restoration, Ichikawa developed a disciplined respect for material and craft.

Ichikawa is known for vessels and vases that celebrate the natural character of wood: grain, tonal variation, and gradual transformation over time. He works with a wide range of species, often selecting spalted or richly figured woods, allowing the grain to guide the form and atmosphere of each piece.
