Traces of Process

2nd - 18th October

‘Traces of Process’ brings together contemporary craft artists who expand the language of material through their innovative treatment of surface. Working across wood, ceramics and metal, these artists approach surface not as a secondary layer but as an active site of transformation, where narrative, function, and identity are inscribed. Processes such as burning, glazing, oxidation, etching, and polishing are harnessed with both precision and experimentation, reshaping the very character of material and revealing its latent possibilities.

The exhibition includes works by Akari Karugane, Ash & Plumb, Emi Suzuki, Etsuji Noguchi, Marco Bellini, Marie Eklund, Masami Tokuda and Mizuyo Yamashita. Taken together, the artists works demonstrate that in craft, surface is inseparable from essence. Each carries the imprint of process, whether chemical, mechanical, or elemental, inviting viewers to consider how materials are not only shaped by human hands, but also transformed into records of time, gesture, and imagination. Through their surfaces, these objects speak with quiet intensity, offering tactile and visual experiences that reveal the soul of material itself.
