Installation by Jono Smart & Emily Stephen

Joint installation of ceramic vessels by Jono Smart & wood turned vessels by Emily Stephen

March 2019

Scottish-based couple Jono Smart and Emily Stephen will be creating a bespoke installation where clay and wood blend together and result in a natural harmony.

Jono is trained as a garden designer and works as a potter. Emily is trained as an architect and works as a woodturner and in the pottery studio. Their studio is a showcase of the things they make and design, their home, their neighbourhood and the landscape they live in. They believe that in combining their two practices, and by way of collaboration, their work is improved.

Having worked closely with nature in their previous practices they both try to impose as little as possible upon their pieces. As a potter and a woodturner they rely on nature for their material, these and their natural qualities are at the forefront of all they do.
