Across cultures and centuries, vessels have shaped the rituals that bring us together.
A tray placed between friends, a cup offered in welcome, a lidded container opened with care, a bowl held in both hands, each gesture carries an unspoken language.

Through 'Ritual Objects', Maud & Mabel is pleased to present a group exhibition bringing together contemporary craft artists working in ceramics and wood, whose practices explore the choreography of holding, offering, containing, and revealing. Rooted in traditions of making, yet firmly contemporary, the works move between function and form, use and contemplation.

Featuring work by Abigail Schama, Yoko Ozawa, Kumiko and Michihiro Domoto, Popalini & Jezando, pachadesign and Youyou Wang the exhibition considers the vessel in its broadest sense: object, gesture, presence. Some pieces are designed for daily rituals, others for quieter moments of reflection; some echo familiar domestic forms, while others lean toward the sculptural, inspired by objects, memories, or imagined uses.

Each artist transforms material through practiced skill, creative exploration, and thoughtful intent, creating works that are both purposeful and expressive. Here, the vessel is not merely functional, it becomes an anchor for routine, a container for meaning, and a witness to human exchange. Thoughtfully and soulfully crafted, these works invite us to consider how repeated actions, attentive handling, and the passage of time, can elevate even the simplest forms into something ceremonial.
